Here, where I can finally unite my love of all things old with bright, larger than life colors.

Painting and restoring vintage furniture has given me a creative voice to express my appreciation for the quality of these old pieces. The curves, the graceful lines, the detailing; how often do you see the scrolls and swoops of wood carvings on today’s furniture? Seeing how the old pieces come to life under a paint brush; letting it evolve as you go along.

I have always lived in smaller homes and appreciate the streamlined size and scale of many of these old pieces. How about the originality of these pieces?  It creates such joy to have someone come into my home and delight in the pieces I have placed in various rooms of my home.

Lazy Days and Sundays?

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is where the name LAZY DAYS and SUNDAYS* came from. When I first heard about Annie Sloan paints, I was still working full time. So, the only time I had to paint was on lazy days or Sundays … hence the name. So much for creativity!

The encounter with Annie Sloan paints gave voice to my love of all things old and beautiful. I took a small piece painting class in the OC as a favor to a friend who wanted to take the class. It was the first step to releasing that inner creative self that has been dying to get out for all those years. The rest is history. I fell in love with the bright, vivacious colors. I loved that you could paint a piece of furniture with little preparation and literally in the middle of the room. The beauty of an all-natural paint!

So, after more than 30 years in the medical field, I have turned my long-lived creativeness into a second calling. I always had a creative spirit; what better way to re-invent one’s self than with paint!  Now, recently retired, I find myself blessed with the gift of time and the support of my family. Ready to embark on a great and new adventure – and a whole lot of good times.

Yes, I do spend a lot of time wondering how I am going to let some of these pieces go out the door! But alas, it is my mission to bring one or two vintage and lovingly restored pieces into your home. Conversation pieces… that will bring to your home years of joy and function.

Let’s celebrate re-purposing, recycling, up-cycling, going green. However you want to phrase it; it’s all about re-loving. We live in a country that is so ready to throw everything away on a whim! According to one online source, in one year, “We Americans disposed of 12,000,000 tons of furniture. And, unfortunately, almost three quarters of it ended up in landfills”.

Which means, some amazing pieces are being set out to pasture, never mind the environment! Time to clean up our collective act. Give that piece in your entry way or bedroom a fresh look with an eye toward color or let us re-imagine them for you. Save the planet, one gorgeous piece of furniture, at a time.
